Two Australian brands that fascinate the fashion world

Immense green areas, wonderful beaches and peace of mind are not the only things that make Australia so interesting! Alluring fashion brands are beginning to make their entrance onto the international fashion landscape, channelling the different currents that influence Australian lifestyle and thinking into their creation. In this short article, we present IXIAH and SPELL.

Founded by designer Krystel Davis in 2012, the brand IXIAH stands out for its high-quality garments adorned by exquisite prints, embroideries and details. The name comes from the African plant ixia with sword-like leaves and star-shaped blooms and from the Greek term ixias (chameleon-like). IXIAH’s collections are characterized by complex craftmanship and an oriental style.

“IXIAH is not just a brand; it's a movement towards a more inspired and interconnected world"

Ixiah, About, https://ixiah.com/pages/about-us

“To work in harmony with people and planet. To create with intention so change is possible. To champion fibres that are circular, regenerative & renewable”

Spell, About us, https://eu.spell.co/pages/about-us

The thought that leads the brand Spell of sisters Elizabeth Abegg and Isabella Pennefather is quite clear in these words. Taking inspiration from the city of Byron Bay, where the main store is located, Spell’s dresses follow the boho-country chic style, not forgetting the environmental sustainability theme.

In fact, starting from 2020 Spell has become a member of UN GLOBAL COMPACT, an initiative for sustainability that has 17 goals. At the moment, the brand is focusing on 4 steps: reduce inequalities; responsible consumption and production; climate action and partnership for the goals.

Sun, beach, sea…Are you looking forward to relaxing alone or with someone and to finally enjoying this long-awaited summer? You are right! Let’s see together some advices to be cool (also because of the hot temperature) during these summer holidays.

UEFA European Championship 2024

Ball in the centre and let’s go!

Last 14th of June the UEFA Champions League has finally started and the Italian team played against Albania in their first day of the championship. Before the finals on the 17th of June, lots of enthusiastic matches will keep everyone glued to the screen (we hope so). And for the girl fans who always want to be stylish, here are some tips inspired by the national uniform. Which team will you choose?

Erdem presents its Pre-Spring25 collection in Milan from the 14th until the 21st of June. As always, the brands has developed the collection around a particular figure, offering both innovative styles and traditional Erdem-like dresses. If Pre-Fall24’s muse was Maria Callas, in the Pre-Spring25 the focus is on Twenties writer Radclyffe Hall.

Hall’s gender fluidity is expressed in the collection through a combination of masculine clothes adorned with feminine details and vice versa. We will find, for example, typical men’s waistcoat with a floral brooch, double-breast coat with shining details and structured night gown matching with soft bomber.

In this Pre-Spring collection, Twenties’ retro style blends with floral elements. Primulas, peonies and daisies appear recurrently through almost the entire collection, however always represented or realised with different techniques and colours.

Swimming, tennis, football, the more the merrier! Here are some collaborations between the dynamic sport and fashion worlds.

Winner of gold medal in the Beijing Olympics Game in 2008, during her interview with Elle, confesses that she has always been attracted to the fashion world, and that her favourites are coats and high-heels. In the summer collection ad campaign, La Divina was photographed close to her natural element, water, while wearing a selection of EMME Marella clothes.

Since 2021 Moncler established a partnership with Italian football team Inter, launching Inter x Moncler line. Recently, we saw the launch of the Inter x Moncler down jacket by Arsham, series of light down jackets created by the New yorker artist Daniel Arsham: distinctive Moncler’s nylon combined with elements of the black&blue team and the first letters DA. In an interview published on Moncler’s website, Daniel talks about how he became a real Inter team’s supporter thanks to his Italian friends. Moreover, in another interview between Giacomo Aricò from Vogue and Inter’s female team football player Flaminia Simonetti, was stated how the genderless down jacket underlines that the football ball doesn’t have a gender but it represents the dreams to be fetched.

On the 22nd of April, Francesco Ferretti presented Aeffe Group’s sustainability strategy, including the brands Alberta Ferretti, Moschino, Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini and Pollini. In order to comply with Agenda 2030 global goals, Chief Operations Officer indicated the three pillars of the sustainability plan for the fashion industry.

Planet & Environment

Between 2025 and 2026 the fashion group will commit itself to reaching goals calculated as SBT, ‘targets that provide companies with a clearly-defined path to reduce emissions inline with the Paris Agreement goals. More than four thousand businesses around the world are already working with the Science Based Targets initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, helping prevent the worst impacts of climate change and future-proof business growth’.

(Science Based Targets, “How it works”, https://sciencebasedtargets.org/how-it-works).

People & Community

Particular emphasis will be placed on creating a sustainable corporate culture, by providing a base sustainability course for employees and an advanced one for top managers.

Product & Supply chain

Aeffe Group will concentrate on the development of collections with a more sustainable oriented mind, for example using recycled organic cotton. By adopting similar strategies, Aeffe predicts to considerably reduce its impact on environment and people.
